Devils Jaw

I have photographed this jetty many times and remember seeing it on my first trip to Tromso. The conditions on this visit demanded a long exposure.

A long exposure captures the remains of Swanage’s old pier beneath a fiery red sunrise. The still water and motion of the clouds add to the sense of calm, while the vibrant sky brings energy and drama to this unforgettable morning.

The harbour cat

Morning mist drapes the rolling hills of the Marshwood Vale, softening the landscape and revealing layers of Dorset’s countryside. I always enjoy photographing misty landscapes as landmarks are hidden and then exposed when the mist is blown in the breeze.

This is a personal favourite, I have a print of it on my own office wall. A crisp winter morning transformed the woodland with a delicate layer of rime frost, clinging to every branch and blade of grass. The mist softened the background, creating a beautifully atmospheric scene.

I drove past this fence every day on my way to my hotel and between snow storms stopped to make an image of it.

Portland’s rugged coastline has a timeless character, and this old quarry crane tells a story of the island’s industrial past. The soft movement of the sea contrasts beautifully with the solid rock, creating a peaceful yet dramatic scene.
