Autumn Inspiration

Autumn is one of the most captivating times of year to photograph, with woodlands transforming into a tapestry of rich golds, deep reds, and warm ambers. This collection celebrates the beauty of the season, from misty mornings and fallen leaves to the soft, golden light that makes autumn landscapes so special.

Quarry - The reflections on the water in the quarry were amazing and created a fantastic pattern.

Deep in the woods - Sunlight finally breaking through deep within the woods.

Larch - Golden light backlighting some spectacular larch trees.

Beech Scene - Misty conditions are more commonplace in autumn and the woods take on an ethereal quality.

Golden Woods - A beech woodland in North Dorset in wonderful conditions.

Forest Tracks - Where better to be in autumn than wandering around forest tracks like this one?

Cascades - The rivers and waterfalls start to spring into action with autumn rainfall.

Canyon Colours - Picking out some trees with a long lens which were growing high upon the canyon face.

Corfe Castle - The season of mists. Corfe Castle is a classic scene with the castle emerging from the mist.

Fallen - Even the fallen tree managed to put on a good show of autumn colour.

The Beech Avenue - A tunnel of trees disappearing into the mist.

Riverside - The sights and sounds of the flowing water and the golden red trees make a perfect compliment to one another.

The Langdales - The autumnal foreground looked glorious with the Langdales towering above.

Kingston Lacey - A well known avenue of trees at Kingston Lacey in Dorset.

Full Flow - An in-camera multiple exposure of a river scene in Dartmoor.

Valley Scene - A small valley in peak autumn glory, bathed in morning sunlight.

Dartmeet - Mist formed on the River Dart as the light of the day faded, creating very ethereal conditions.

Pillars - This striking avenue of trees in North Dorset always looks incredible on misty morning, especially with a golden canopy.

Castle Shadows - Long shadows at Corfe Castle in Autumn.

Autumn Finale - The final autumnal feeling image I captured in 2023. The frost the next day dropped the remaining leaves and Winter arrived.

Hawthorn - The berries on the hawthorn really popped in the evening light when the hillside behind was pushed into shadow.
