Throughout the journey, you’ll explore captivating landscapes with plenty of stops to refine your photography skills, engage with local communities, and savour the flavours of Moroccan cuisine. The tour is circular, starting and ending in Marrakech, travelling anticlockwise through Essaouira, Agadir, Taroudant, the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Draa Valley.
We’ll spend two full days photographing the Sahara Desert, made possible by an extended stay compared to previous years. This includes two nights in a desert hotel near Merzouga, followed by a night in a luxury desert camp nestled among the dunes. Travelling by camel into the desert, we’ll experience both sunset and sunrise in this extraordinary landscape, with time to explore the dunes at different times of day and in changing light. The vast desert scenery offers exceptional opportunities for creative and immersive photography.
From Merzouga, we continue through oasis towns and the rugged terrain of the Dades Valley, before visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified village offering panoramic views across the surrounding landscape. We then ascend the High Atlas Mountains, stopping at the lesser-visited Kasbah Telouet, before returning to Marrakech.
This tour captures the essence of Morocco — from coastal communities and nomadic desert life to historic kasbahs in the High Atlas Mountains. Under the guidance of Andy Farrer, you’ll receive thoughtful, practical advice to help you develop your photography, ensuring you return home with a strong portfolio and lasting memories.
