Fine Art Printing for Artists & Photographers

My business partner, Carlo, and I formed Fine Art Inkorporated in 2017 as a dedicated print studio in Swanage. We've set up professional Canon printers and offer a wide choice of fine art papers. Additionally, we've equipped our studio with a comprehensive range of finishing equipment so that prints can be bonded to substrates and mounted to ensure they remain flat.

We also provide the option to print onto canvas, which is particularly appealing for clients seeking large wall art, especially in bright rooms where framed glass prints can be problematic with reflections. We laminate the canvases with a near invisible matte laminate for ultimate durability and stretch them onto top-quality pine stretcher bars on-site.

I print for many highly respected photographers and artists, and I take great pride in guiding my clients through the process of producing printed artwork.

If you are interested in printing your own work, please visit www.fineartinkorporated.co.uk or get in touch on the contact page.

Fine Art Prints

At my studio, I stock a wide selection of Fine Art Trade Guild-approved papers from Fotospeed and Hahnemühle. Paired with genuine Canon pigment inks, these materials ensure your prints have a life span of over 85 years. I use custom ICC profiles for each paper to guarantee accurate colour reproduction, providing you with the highest quality prints. My studio is also equipped with hot and cold dry-mounting facilities, which allow me to bond prints to a substrate, keeping them perfectly flat. I choose the most suitable method based on the size and substrate of your print.

Canvas Printing

Printing onto canvas is always popular and economical, providing a non-reflective finish that's perfect for bright rooms. I use a high-quality poly-cotton canvas from Fotospeed which is approved by The Fine Art Trade Guild. Once printed, I laminate it with a clear matte laminate using a hot vacuum press, sealing the canvas completely for maximum durability. I hand-stretch the canvas, carefully trimming any excess for a perfectly flat finish. The rear is completed with tape, felt bumpers, and brass hangers, ensuring a polished, professional presentation.

Soft-Proofing

As a photographer I understand the dissapointment and frustration of images not looking as good on paper as they do on screen. With careful adjustment, soft-proofing allows me to preview and adjust your images on screen using custom-made ICC profiles before printing allowing your images to reflect your artistic vision. This process helps avoid waste and disappointment by catching and fixing any issues before they reach the print stage. Different papers have unique characteristics, like warmer tones or bright whites, which can affect the final print. For instance, matte papers might appear "flatter" without adjustments, but with careful soft-proofing, I'll ensure the results match your digital version. Either Carlo or myself will expertly prepare your images and advise you of any issues at no extra cost.

Printing is a key part of the photographic journey and whether you are printing your own images or preparing them for online labs such as my own, being able to prepare your own files will give you a deeper knowledge and bring a maturity to your editing style.

Fine Art Printing Workshop

"Only when you print, does your image convey the authority you wish it to have. The print is your photograph’s rightful inheritance."

Charlie Waite

"In an age where image consumption is at an all-time high, it's important to print images on paper and bring them from a virtual world of pixels into the physical sphere."

Andy Farrer

“In my mind’s eye, I visualize how a particular… sight and feeling will appear on a print. If it excites me, there is a good chance it will make a good photograph. It is an intuitive sense, an ability that comes from a lot of practice.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I place an order? +

Head over to the studio website for information on how to order (https://www.fineartinkorporated.co.uk/ordering). We print every job individually, so we don’t have an online ordering system. You will need to tell us the size, quantity, paper, and what border you require.

What types of prints do you offer? +

We offer a wide range of fine art prints on various papers as well as canvas. We also provide finishing options like dry mounting.

Can I customise my print order? +

Yes, each order is bespoke. The prices and sizes on our website provide a simple way of estimating costs if you need a print in-between the published sizes. We print on rolls, so we aren’t constrained to traditional “A” paper sizes. If you have specific requirements, please get in touch to discuss them.

What is the difference between canvas and paper prints? +

Canvas prints offer a contemporary look, are non-reflective, ready to hang, and are ideal for larger pieces. Paper prints provide a classic look and offer a wider range of textures and finishes.

What kind of paper do you use for fine art prints? +

We use a variety of high-quality papers, all approved by the Fine Art Trade Guild. These include options like Hahnemühle, Fotospeed, and other premium archival papers.

How do I know which paper to choose? +

We print a wide variety of photography and artwork and are happy to help you choose, or you can schedule a visit to see our sample prints in the studio.

How long do your prints last? +

When printed on our Fine Art Trade Guild-approved papers using pigment inks, our prints have a lifespan of over 85 years.

What file formats do you accept for printing? +

We accept high-resolution files in formats such as JPEG, TIFF, and PDF. Please ensure your files have an embedded colour profile (preferably Adobe RGB) for the best print quality. Files should be exported at 300dpi.

I’m not experienced at soft-proofing my files for print or working with colour profiles, can you help with this? +

Yes, we are happy to soft-proof and prepare your files for your chosen paper.

Is there a minimum order size? +

There is no minimum order size, but please note that a small order surcharge applies to orders under £25.00.

Do you offer discounts for bulk orders? +

Yes, we offer discounts for bulk orders. Please contact us with the details of your order, and we can provide a custom quote.

What is your turnaround time? +

Our turnaround time varies depending on order volume and current workload. We will provide an estimated delivery date when you place your order, or you can get in touch in advance if you have a deadline.

How do I pay for my order? +

We will send you an invoice via email, which can be paid via BACS or credit or debit card.

How much is delivery? +

Print orders £12.00 - Canvas prints £15.00. Due to rising shipping costs, we have introduced a £5.00 small order surcharge, applied to orders under £25.00. We ship with DHL and use custom-made extra-thick postal tubes to avoid damage in transit. You can collect your order in person for free by arrangement.

Do you ship internationally? +

Due to the complexities introduced by recent changes to customs regulations post-Brexit, we no longer offer international shipping on behalf of third parties. Handling shipments as an intermediary has become increasingly challenging under the current guidelines.

What should I do if my print arrives damaged? +

In the unlikely event that your print arrives damaged, please contact us immediately with photos of the damage. We will work with you to resolve the issue and arrange a replacement if necessary.

What are your opening hours? +

We are open by appointment only. Please get in touch to arrange a mutually convenient time to visit, see paper samples, or discuss your requirements.

Can I visit your studio to see samples of your work? +

Absolutely! We welcome visitors by appointment. Please get in touch to schedule a visit where you can view paper samples, see examples of our prints, and discuss your project in person.

Do you offer framing services? +

While we do not offer framing services in-house, we can recommend trusted framing partners who can assist you with framing your prints.
