One-to-One FAQ's

Do I need any special equipment?

You don’t have to have a top of the range DSLR by any means. Many of my clients come before they make significant purchases to get a clear idea of what camera bodies or lenses they should buy. If you have a tripod please bring it.

How far will we be walking?

You’ll be asked to fill in a questionnaire before your day is planned and will be asked about your fitness levels, to make sure suitable locations are chosen. There are plenty of options for the less mobile.

What happens if the weather is too bad?

If the forecast looks unsuitable we will rearrange for a later date or discuss relocating the training to  a different area if the forecast looks better. i.e. The New Forest to the East or Dartmoor to the West may be more suitable. If we get rained off part way through a day we can always head to the office to do some Lightroom and Photoshop training.

Can I choose where we go to take photos or is the itinerary set in stone?

Locations are always conditions based, so a set itinerary can often be a bad idea, but I will always try to take you to the places on your wish list if the time of year and conditions and tides suit.

I booked a full day 1-2-1 but would like to include image processing, is that possible?

My Full Day 1-2-1 and Workflow Workshop are the same price and it's fine to change your mind. Just let me know when we arrange the date for your day and we chat to discuss your goals. If you're buying a day as a gift, it doesn't matter which you book, as it can be discussed and the most suitable one chosen. You could also book a half day (sunrise or sunset 1-2-1) and only do processing training if you like. It wouldn't be practical to do in the field and processing in a half day though.

Are there any travel costs?

I am based in Dorset, so any travelling in this area is included in your fee, however, if you would like a one to one session further afield instead, then travel and accommodations costs may be required.

Will I be sent directions on where to meet?

Yes, we will prearrange a place to meet and I will send you a google maps link. I'll confirm again the evening before we meet. Should the weather conditions mean a change of plan I would call you and discuss a new start location to better suit conditions.

Should I bring a packed lunch?

It’s up to you but it’s a good idea to have a drink and some snacks. There’s normally time to stop and buy some food or have a pub lunch depending on the itinerary we have discussed.

What should I wear?

Suitable clothing for the time of year, wellies or walking boots and a dry set of clothes is a good idea.

Are you Insured?

Yes, I have full Public Liability Insurance. DBS Checked (CRB).

Can I bring friends or family?

Sorry, no. Each person needs to pay, but I do offer discounts for up to 3 people booking together, so you can save some money by coming as a small group.
