The spectacular Lofoten Islands are an archipelago in the northern part of Norway within the Arctic Circle. It's jagged mountains and clusters of sheltered bays and harbours are breathtaking. During our trip we will have around 8 hours of daylight each day, allowing penty of unhurried photography at locations during the day. During the hours of darkness we will be ideally situated to seise every opportunity to photograph the aurora when it is active. The Lofoten Islands provide ideal dark skies, remote beches and incredible mountain backdrops, making it a superb place to photograph the northern lights. The last trip had four nights of aurora.

Andy knows the area very well from numerous trips and will make sure you maximise your photography time in Norway.

On the last trip we spent several hours one day on a small boat potographing wild sea eagles feeding at close quarters. This will be available as an option at an extra fee on the day.

Our base is at the heart of the Islands near Leknes in self catering accommodation.

Customer Testimonials

Perfect Trip

The Lofoten Islands in February are stunningly beautiful and the Northern Lights were as amazing as I hoped they would be. This was the perfect trip for me, even as a novice photographer, to gain experience and improve my skills. The size of the group meant that I could ask questions and get the help I needed. Our accommodation was comfortable and well located and Andy's driving in the snow was reassuringly calm! His knowledge of the area and constant assessment of the weather meant that we got the most out of our time. The trip out from Svolvær to watch the sea eagles was brilliant. Looking forward to going back to Norway later in the year!

Fantastic Week

"I went on a workshop with Andy to The Lofoten Islands in 2016 and I can wholeheartedly recommend the experience to anyone.  It was made extra special by participating in a workshop led by Andy.

Our accommodation was first class. Andy drove us in testing conditions to cover numerous fantastic locations throughout the island, with one eye on the Aurora/Weather forecast.

We had Aurora on 3/4 nights, top landscape locations, photographed wild Sea Eagles and Reindeer. What a fantastic week !!

Our group was of mixed experience and Andy was on hand to advise on composition for the beginners or the more technical aspects of processing for the more experienced photographers.

If you’re thinking about going, just do it. You won’t be disappointed! “
