I've been using the Canon image PROGRAF printers for almost a year now. I use a PRO-1000 and a PRO-4000.
One of the huge advantages I found, other than the significant bump in image qualiy, is the ability to set up custom media types.
The key advantages being
- Naming the paper types on the printer display & the on-screen meus (in photoshop etc)
- Uploading the ICC profiles into the printer, essentially, embedding the profile.
- Avoid waste prints by accidentally printing on different presets or with incorrect ICC profiles applied.
